Running Competitions from OMS

Competitions can be a great way to get customers to interact with your website, products and live preview.


We have used ourselves and love the concept of getting users to personalise products on our smartlinks to be entered into a prize draw where a certain number of customers creations will be chosen at random to be produced and sent free of charge.

This can be done very easily with the CPP and OMS tools at your disposal.


1) Create Your Smartlinks

If you have the product you want to set the competition on all you need to do is find it in CPP and use our Smartlink Builder



Follow the process through on this page picking your App Layout, Configuration and Dropship then enter the "Advanced" Tab. On this tab you need to make sure you select "Whitelabel POS" as the cart option




This will give you a smartlink that can put orders straight into the OMS without the need to be embedded directly in a website so can be linked and used on social media and other channels.



2) Company Settings

To ensure that all of the orders placed do not get processed you need to change the settings on your OMS to ensure the orders come in "On Hold"

To do this access the "Companies" section on the settings icon in the top right of the screen and locate the retailer that you are sending the orders in on from your POS Smartlink.

When in that companies settings click the "Advanced" tab, open up the "Incomming Orders" section and set the "Default Status" to "On Hold"





3) Test your Smartlink and Launch the Contest

Place a test order on your smartlink anc check that it goes into OMS and that the status remains as "On Hold"

If this is successful you can share this link accross channels accessible to you and get customers to enter the Competition.



Due to the nature of competitions it will normally be needed to change some app working and add terms as apps are by default focussed on verbage pertaining to ecommerce ordering. We have 2 ways this can be done


- Most of our apps support a HELP TAB which you can see as the first tab on my example link and the text can be configured in the configuration.

- The configurtation can also have the "POS Details Popup" enabled so you can capture user details and the title of this can be updated in a custom locale as per my example if required.




4) Results Draw and Order Release

Drawing randomly generated fair results is very easy

- In OMS got to "Reporting"

- Generate an "Order Details" Report for the period of covering the contest

- Open the generated CSV and copy the "order_ref" columns (F) excluding the header

- Paste that column into the text area on this link http://www.randomresult.com/pick.php

- Add the number of winners into "Number of items to pick"

- Click "Draw" and this will randomly pick the correct number of entries for you


If you need proof of a random result you can use http://www.randomresult.com/ticket.php and the "Pick Items" option which will save a proof ticket of the random result timestamping the draw and all entries.



5) Release the Winning Orders

In OMS search for the winning order refs and change the status to "receievd" releasing those orders for further processing and fulfillment.


Helpful Hint! - You could also set up notification emails from our system so when the items are shipped the customer will be alerted that they won the contest and the item is on its way, this email can be compoletely customised. You can set this up in the Companies section of OMS on the "Generic Emailer" Notification Integration.
