Floor Module : Our Workflows

The Custom Gateway Floor Module has large number of tools which can all be used together in different ways to achieve a "Workflow". A workflow is a pathway through the system from order received to dispatched.

Different workflows lend themselves to different cases, products and scales of operations.

We have 8 Standard workflows detailed below.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORKFLOW 1 - Barcode Driven Item - Stock Picking Labels

Description -
This workflow is for printing individual items and is focused on efficiency at scale.

The workflow is focused around printing labels for items and applying them before printing / production. These labels contain a barcode which follows the items on the floor and is used at various stations for quick scanpoints.

This workflow lends itself especially well to one off DTG production on Kornit and other digital printers to name just one example.

WORKFLOW 2 - Barcode Driven Item - Job Sheets

Description -
This workflow is for printing individual items and is focussed on efficiency at scale.

The workflow is focused around printing Jobsheets. This jobsheet contains  barcodes which follows the job on the floor and is used at various stations for quick scanpoints.

Among many, this workflow lends itself especially well to one off Sublimation production where all items of the same type (for example mugs) can be grouped and produced together.

WORKFLOW 3 - Barcode Driven Item - Integrated Artwork Barcode

Description -
This workflow is suitable for production were the finished goods can have a barcode printed on products integrated with other artwork.

This barcode can be used for printing at subsequent stations and removes the need for labels and additional paperwork.

An example of this being used would be on Greetings Cards. A barcode can be auto placed on the back of the card which can be scanned at stations removing the need for any additional paperwork.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORKFLOW 4 - Barcode Driven Batch - Master Sheet and Barcode Labels

Description -
This workflow allows the printing of a batch of items at the same time and then labelling them for further stations.

A job can contain multiple items and a master sheet will contain details of all items, then when printed a batch barcode can be scanned to print item level barcodes to be applied to goods for moving further through the workflow.

One example of this in use is the UV printing of phone cases 6 up. The master jobsheet identifies which cases go where on a jig and when the items are printed generates labels which are applied to the inside of the printed cases.

WORKFLOW 5 - Integrated Batch Barcode and Barcode Labels (Sublimation / UV)

Description -
This workflow is suited best for Sublimation, UV and other technologies where you are printing artwork in advance to be applied to blank goods and these can be batched up, for example producing phone cases 6 at once on a jig.

This workflow allows the speed and efficiency of batching artwork but also allows item barcodes to be printed and stuck to items to allow item level QC, Branding and Dispatch stations.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORKFLOW 6 - Batch Driven -  Master Sheet and Stock Picking Labels

Description -
This workflow allows for a pre pick of stock from a master jobsheet first which contains a batch level barcode.

This means the batch level barcode can be used for higher level functions if needed like batch dispatch, QC and setting a substatus.

Taking an example this could be very useful for cut and sew production where all batched jobs can be collected on a trolley and can be scanned into different specific stations such as Sewing. This gives wider visibility of production to managers.

WORKFLOW 7 - Barcode Driven Batch - Integrated Item Barcodes

Description -
This workflow works very well for items where it is possible for a barcode to be printed on finished goods.

This allows for a seamless and paperless workflow up to the point of dispatch. It removes the need to label each item as it already has an identifying barcode.

An example use of this workflow would be printing large format items. A small barcode can be placed in surplus space or areas that may be folded or become seams such as on Banners.

This workflow has similarities to workflow 3 but with the addition of a batch level barcode allowing QC, Dispatch and Substatus to be scanned at a batch level instead of just an item level.
